The Festival is pleased to welcome back DJ’s Driftwood and Noodles to the line-up this year. The Festival always loves to embrace various forms of music, and these guys are no exception! They will certainly get people on their feet, and deliver a set full of music that people will not be able to sit still too….

I posed a few questions to DJ Driftwood about his set and being a part of this years festival.

You have been a part of the Festival in The Park previously…Tell us what is special about it?

It is special because the sense of community spirit that encapsulates the festival. It’s all about giving local acts and performers a chance to shine and letting the people in attendance know what’s going on arts wise in Ashford!

What can we expect from your set on the Sunday of the Festival?

Myself (Driftwood) and my Heavy Rotation Radio show partner DJ Noodles always look to push the musical envelope and expose people to sounds that they might not have heard before. On a live gig our aim is to get the crowd moving, build up the atmosphere and keep things lively!

The festival’s ethos is to nurture and promote local performing arts in many forms. How important is it that children and adults alike are exposed to live, local music and the arts?

This can only work in a positive manner. It helps broaden peoples’ lives of all ages by exposing them to the arts. No matter what type, plus in a live format is essential in our view. It will broaden their experiences and maybe influence them in a way that they can go on their artistic journey if they feel that way inclined! It may also open the people up to local talent that they may not have realised was out there!

This is the Festival’s 11th year! Other than at the festival where can people catch you in action?

Noodles and myself(Driftwood) have dj’ed live for many years and now host a weekly radio show ‘Heavy Rotation’ which airs every Sunday night from 9-11pm on Radio Ashford 107.1 F.M. It also livestreams via www.radioashford.com
