The Take Down invited me down to a rehearsal for a photoshoot, while I was there I had the opportunity to discuss the Festival with the band. This is what they had to say:
You have played Festival in The Park previously? What do you like about performing at the festival?
We love playing Ashford Festival in The Park because it is always a great festival with so much local talent. It is a chance for local musicians to showcase their songs in front of a large audience. The sound is always amazing thanks to the great sound techs.
So tell us a bit more about The Take Down?
The Take Down is all about high energy catchy songs. We write all our own stuff but our aim is always to make the material so catchy that it sticks in the listeners head so much that they instantly feel familiar with the songs. We love nothing more than performing live on stage in front of an audience.
The festival’s ethos is to nurture and promote local performing arts in many forms. How important is it that children are exposed to live, local music and the arts?
To us, it is hugely important. It’s already obvious to us that the local live music and arts scene is not as strong as it used to be. So many pop acts in the UK that seem to break through with so little work behind the scenes, whereas local bands are working their socks off for a small chance to get somewhere without success.
This is the Festivals 11th year! As a local band do you feel it is important to have this kind of event available to our local community?
Yes! Definitely! Ashford is growing all the time and as a free festival it offers a great day out for everyone! It introduces people to acts and bands they probably wouldn’t have even knew existed.
Finally, what can we expect from the The Take Downs performance at this year’s festival?
You can expect a high energy, melodic, pop punk experience. We give our all on stage and hope that the audience loves it just as much as we do!
